Barracudas believes it’s important to find ways to give back. One initiative we’re proud of is our Trust Fund.
Each year, we give our staff the opportunity to apply for funding to help them achieve a community focused goal. All they need to do to apply is let us know about the charity, programme, event or business venture they’re involved in and explain how the donation from the fund would contribute to their project and how this will help to make a difference.
Barracudas Trust Fund has been available to our staff since 2011 and over the 7 years have contributed to over 35 brilliant projects.
We’re proud to have been able to support a number of fantastic initiatives in the past and to have been part of something positive by helping our staff to do great things for others. Over the years we’re happy to have supported many initiatives including setting up a school in Cambodia, rugby coaching in Rwanda, enabling one of our team to take up a voluntary placement at Great Ormond Street and setting up a fund to help find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Last year one of team applied for funding from the Barracudas Trust Fund to raise money for Childreach International by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. We couldn’t be happier that we were able to offer our support so Erica could achieve her goal of helping to eliminate child trafficking from the world.
Erica set off on her challenge on 26th August. With no mountaineering experience, she started off from Moshi in Tanzania with snacks and plenty of water. Her group walked for 4-8 hours each day over the steep terrain, with limited supplies and no facilities. It took 5 days to get to Barafu Base Camp. The altitude at this point brought many challenges - and it was so cold that her water completely froze. Erica battled on and after hours of walking in difficult conditions she and her group made it to the top of The Barranco Wall - achieving her goal. We’re proud of Erica’s determination and for raising £3,000 for this fantastic cause!
Barracudas Activity Day Camps are pleased that we’re able to help our camp staff make a real positive difference to so many diverse initiatives. We look forward to being able to support more causes in 2019!
