The success of our activity day camps is not only down to our unrivalled activities, but also the exceptional quality of our staff. We’ve been successfully operating holiday clubs for 30+ years now and could only do so with the great team we have and our stringent expectations.
Our rigorous staffing procedures and practices are just one of the reasons why we’ve been rated Outstanding by Ofsted more times than any other comparable provider.
Highly qualified
We recruit staff with the qualifications you’d expect and the genuine enthusiasm you’d hope for at a kids activity camp.
All of our staff have an enhanced level DBS check. Over 70% of Barracudas staff are fully or nearly qualified teaching professionals or specialist instructors, familiar with the strict guidelines of a childcare setting.
We don’t take any chances with your kids at Barracudas multi-activity camps! We insist our staff have specialist qualifications for specific activities such as archery, fencing, inflatables, motorsports, swimming and the waterpark. Every staff member also needs to attend a Barracudas assessment day before they’re able to work at camp. Only after this can we be sure that they meet our high standards.
Enthusiastic returners
Staff love camp (almost) as much as the kids. Over 60% of those who work with us return for another season. We also have a number of long-timers who’ve been with us around 10 years! This shows how much they enjoy the Barracudas environment, resulting in enthusiastic leadership and enjoyable sessions. Not only that but this experience makes sure that the camp runs smoothly - and there’s a familiar face for returning kids.
How you and your child are supported by Barracudas staff
Barracudas sets its own high staff:child ratios, above legal requirements. You can find these details within your child’s age group page.
Barracudas operates a solid staff structure at every camp and for each grouping. This is to make sure that you and your child are well supported during their time at Barracudas.
Each camp has a Camp Manager who takes responsibility for the overall operation. The Camp Manager is available to parents throughout the day to discuss any details about your child’s day. Each group also has a Keyworker, known as a Group Leader or Early Years Leader, who gets to know each child individually and makes sure they’re thriving at camp.
Our Early Years Managers and Early Years Leaders work in our Early Years groups (4 ½ - 5 year olds). They have specific qualifications needed to make sure younger children’s needs are being met. Parents can discuss specific details relating to their child with their child’s Early Years Leader or Early Years Manager.
Barracudas also employs Area Managers who ensure the smooth running of a set of camps in a specific geographical area. This is another level of care to make sure your child is having an amazing time whilst being kept safe and secure at camp.
Our Head Office team are also on hand to support parents during camp. We’re happy to provide logistical and specialist support if needed.
