Fun Fact #1: There Are Nearly 200 Countries in the World

The world currently has 195 recognised countries.

Each one is unique.

Some countries are enormous, like Canada and Russia, while others are so small that you could walk across them in less than an hour.

Every country has its own flag, traditions and history, making our world wonderfully diverse.

Fun Fact #2: Canada Has More Lakes Than Any Other Country

Canada is famous for its beautiful natural landscapes.

In fact, it contains more lakes than all the other countries in the world combined.

There are more than two million lakes spread across the country.

Some are so large they look like oceans on a map.

Fun Fact #3: The Eiffel Tower Changes Height

One of the world's most famous landmarks has a surprising secret.

The Eiffel Tower in Paris actually grows taller during hot weather.

When temperatures rise, the metal expands slightly, causing the tower to become several centimetres taller.

When temperatures cool, it shrinks back again.

Science is everywhere—even in famous landmarks!

Fun Fact #4: Australia Has More Kangaroos Than People

Australia is home to millions of kangaroos.

These famous animals can leap huge distances in a single bound and are found across much of the country.

Their powerful tails help them balance while hopping, and they can reach speeds of over 50 kilometres per hour.

Fun Fact #5: Japan's Bullet Trains Are Super Fast

Japan's famous Shinkansen, often called bullet trains, can travel at speeds of over 300 kilometres per hour.

They're known not only for their speed but also for being incredibly reliable.

Some services are so punctual that being one minute late is considered unusual. Sounds like heaven to UK commuters!

Fun Fact #6: More Than 7,000 Languages Are Spoken Around the World

Language helps people communicate, share stories and express culture.

Today, experts estimate there are more than 7,000 languages spoken globally.

Some languages are spoken by millions of people, while others are spoken by only a small number of communities.

Every language helps preserve unique traditions and knowledge.

Fun Fact #7: Antarctica Is the Coldest Place on Earth

Antarctica is covered by a massive sheet of ice and is the coldest continent on our planet.

No country owns Antarctica, and no cities exist there.

Scientists from around the world live and work there temporarily to study climate, wildlife and the environment.

Why Exploring the World Matters

Learning about different countries helps children develop curiosity, empathy and appreciation for other cultures.

It teaches us that although people may speak different languages or live in different places, we all share many things in common.

The world becomes more exciting when we understand how diverse and connected it really is.

World Explorer Challenge

Choose a country you've never visited and discover:

You might just discover your next dream destination.

Adventure doesn't always require a suitcase—sometimes it begins with curiosity.
