Meet the Recruitment Team!
Meet Sam B, the newest addition to the Recruitment Team! Sam joined our Recruitment team back in November, after many years of working at camp! His first role with us was as a Dance and Drama Instructor, making his way through the ranks with his final position at camp being Senior Sports Instructor!
Let’s find out a little more about ‘Burkey’ as we like to call him, as his arrival in the office made him the 3rd Sam to join the Recruitment team!
So Sam, tell us a little about yourself…
Sam: Theatre and Performing Arts are the areas I love the most. I currently run a Youth Theatre which is incredibly rewarding. I also play football, enjoy travelling, and come up with bad puns on a daily basis.
What areas do you recruit for, and how does this work?
Sam: I recruit for area 4! Wishful thinking, mainly. The process from application to being on camp is something I know quite well, so ensuring each candidate has the right qualities to bring fun and energy to camp is something I look for.
What do you enjoy most about working for the recruitment team?
Sam: It’s a change of pace going from camp life to head office. However, the Barracudas values are implemented throughout the company, so it’s nice to have that continuity.
What is your favourite role at camp?
Sam: SSI! I really enjoyed all the organised fun that I was able to provide. Making sure not only the children are having a good time, but looking out for the staff too.
What was it like working at camp?
Sam: Shout out to my Blue shirts at Huntingdon and Long Road. Camp is one of the toughest gigs no matter what your role is, but it is insanely fun if you get the basics right. The kids can be wild, so you’ve got to have more energy than them to keep up (I have oodles). I also have the same humour as a 5 year old, so that helps!
Come back next week to learn all about Jess, our Recruitment and Training Administrator!
