Meet the Recruitment Team!
This week it’s all about Jess, our Recruitment and Training Administrator. Jess started working in the Recruitment team back in May 2021 and recruited for both our summer and October camps.
So Jess, tell us a little about yourself, what is your main hobby?
Jess: I actually run my own small business outside of Barracudas. I make resin art and decorative crafts. Over Christmas, I had a few pop up stalls at some local markets, which was really fun!
What are the jobs you do on a daily basis as a Recruitment and Training Administrator?
Jess: A big part of my job during the run up to camp is taking interviews and issuing contracts, mainly trying to fill all the roles in area 1. As a training administrator, I help with the planning and running of all our training courses. This includes booking people onto these courses, running our Virtual Assessment Events and running some of the training weekends myself.
What’s it like recruiting for area 1?
Jess: Area 1 consists of Barnet, Bedford, Cambridge (Long road and St Faiths), Huntingdon, Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Watford. Recruiting for these camps includes viewing applications, going to recruitment fairs and approaching colleges that have courses relevant to Barracudas. Trying to see if we can entice them to gain more experience for their CV’s while having a really fun Easter and summer with us.
What do you enjoy most about working for the recruitment team?
Jess: I like working in recruitment because it’s always a great atmosphere and I’ve been made to feel so welcome over the past year. Someone is always there to support you if you need any help!
Have you ever worked at camp, if so what was it like?
Jess: Yes, it was great fun! I’ve worked with all ages now and it is really rewarding to see children excelling in activities they didn’t think they would!
Next up is Sam C, our Recruitment and Training Manager! Missed our previous interview with Sam B? Find out all about his transition from SSI at camp to working in Head Office here!
