Important Olympic Information

We hope, like us, you’re looking forward to a great summer of activities, both at Barracudas and with the 2012 Olympics.  We’ll definitely be joining in the Olympic fun with our theme day on Friday 3rd August and Mini Olympics of course featuring on the timetable!

With the UK hosting one of the worlds’ largest sporting events, it is inevitable that roads and public transport will be much busier than usual and disruptions possible. We are making any necessary preparations to ensure camp operates as normal and you may also need to prepare for your journeys.  We have included some links below that you may benefit from in making your plans this summer.

http://www.getaheadofthegames.com/ – shows the travel hotspots, an essential journey planner!

http://www.london2012.com/ - full schedule of events can be found here

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ - Transport for London site

http://www.gosurrey.info – if you live in Surrey, this is the one for you!  Contains important information about road closures for the Road Cycling Time Trial races on Wed 1st August 2012.

We would strongly recommend you also visit your local council websites as these contain lots of useful information including options for you to sign up for resident newsletters and regular updates.

Barracudas will be operating as usual throughout the summer with our standard opening times from 08.30 – 17.30hrs.  To assist with your journey planning, you can add early/late clubs (early club from 8am, late club until 6pm) to your booking.

There will be increased traffic and diversions in place as a result of the Olympics and therefore you must allow extra time for your journey.  Barracudas is unable to offer a longer day as our registration with Ofsted is on the basis that we open at 8am and close at 6pm, as is our insurance cover and our arrangements with the school. It is essential therefore that you make the necessary arrangements to collect your child/ren by 6pm at the latest.  Furthermore you must also ensure that in the event you are held up, there are alternative arrangements in place for somebody else to collect your child/ren.  To help with this, we provide space for you to name up to 6 people who are authorised to collect your child on the Essential Information form.

We hope the above is useful; if however you have any further questions, please visit our FAQ’s section of our website/brochure, or call us on 0845 123 5299.
