We’re proud to announce that we’re sponsoring The Malcolm Whales Foundation charity for their annual walk in Dorset.
Who are The Malcom Whales Foundation?
The charity was set up in 2008 by former Hinghingbrooke school teacher, Damien Whales after he sadly lost his father, Malcolm Whales, to Bowel Cancer at only 55 years old.
The charities main aim is to support children affected by cancer and as of May 2018, the charity had raised an incredible £150,00 for charity!
The first charity event took place in 2009 and in 2012 The Malcolm Whales Foundation was created. They raise money each year through various events. Its biggest fundraiser is the Dorset Walk with people walking from Weymouth to Poole each July. The participants of this walk are mainly secondary school students from Ely, Oundle and Peterborough, but there are also a number of families that take part in the event.
What are they doing?
Starting on 13th July, the team will once again set off on the 3 day walk from Weymoth to Poole. This year there are 162 walkers, and they will have the challenging task of not just walking the distance but they will also be tackling the crippling summer heat.
We’ll be supporting them every step of the way. If you look closely you’ll spot our Barracudas logo on their T-shirts.
