- Why Barracudas?
Not sure what to do with the kids this weekend? If the weather is nice, why not enjoy the British summertime with a tasty picnic with the family.
Not sure what to pack? No fear, we’ve brought you a packing list so you don’t forget anything!
The most important part of the picnic - the food! Don’t worry about packing too much, you can always use leftovers the next day for packed lunch boxes. It’s advisable to make finger foods that can easily be snacked on such as sandwiches, sausage rolls, Scotch eggs and chicken drumsticks.
When packing the food, make sure it is all stored in Tupperware boxes that are firmly closed and use ice packs and cool boxes to keep the food cool. Wait until the last possible moment to pack your fridge food into your bag before leaving as you wouldn’t want to risk upset bellies to ruin your perfect picnic.
Don’t forget the drinks. Make sure you pack plenty of water, especially if it’s a hot day! We would also advise refraining from packing fizzy drinks as these can be a nightmare if shaken up as they spill everywhere. Not only will you and the children have sticky fingers but it will also attract those unwanted bugs!
So, you have the food and drink, but you need something to eat it with! Don’t forget to pack cutlery, plates, cups and some napkins.
Remember to pack a blanket. You can buy all sorts of blankets for picnics, from the more traditional types to ones that are waterproof on the bottom. You can find a list of the best picnic blankets here.
Keep the kids entertained by taking along some toys for them to enjoy whilst you sit back and relax. Depending on the age of the children, take a range of different toys such as a ball and sit-down toys for when they get tired.
