London could be perfect for a family activity trip

Youngsters can enjoy a lot of holiday activities in London, one travel professional has suggested.

Jacqueline French of Visit London pointed out the free museums and the green, open spaces within the capital's parks that comprise a third of its area.

She described London as "one of the greenest cities in the world".

Children may also enjoy summer activities such as the annual Notting Hill Carnival and Buckingham Palace's opening.

Families who want to avoid the bustle of the city's centre were also urged to try visiting places such as Harrow and Greenwich, which are further out but also offer a number of holiday activities.

London enjoyed a 10.7 per cent rise in profitability in May thanks to visitors taking advantage of its shopping scene, according to TRI Hospitality Consulting's recently-published HotStats report.

It also topped the European Cities Marketing Benchmarking Report, beating Paris, Berlin, Rome and Madrid.
