'Nurture children's creativity' with art
Published on 10-03-2010
Summary: Drawing and painting could be one of the ways to cultivate creativity.

Children's activities, such as art, could cultivate resourcefulness, innovation and originality and one expert has highlighted these effects.
Executive director of the after-school enrichment programme KidzArt Lynda Pritchett's advice on the best ways to develop childhood inventiveness was printed in the Chattanoogan.
She said: "As children experiment and test new waters, they learn and grow and develop their creativity, which is beneficial in all areas of their lives."
Reducing stress elements that surround these activities, removing items such as the TV and asking open-ended questions to children to encourage critical thinking, were some of her suggestions.
Engaging the right side of the brain is particularly important, according to Ms Pritchett, who explained that drawing with different colours and shapes will be suitably stimulating.
The London International Gallery of Children's Art is currently housing an exhibition called Family Seen Through the Eyes of Children, which will run until April 25th.
