Polo 'proves a hit' with children
Published on 04-03-2010
Summary: Free polo lessons in west London have been a success with school children.

Children are learning to play polo once a fortnight at the sport's traditional home in west London's Hurlingham Park.
As part of their PE curriculum, pupils- including those from Fulham's Sulivan Primary School- are sampling the activity as a bid to remove its elitist reputation, the London Evening Standard reported.
The paper revealed that the children have been taught by professional player Jack Kidd (brother to model Jodie) who will be representing London in the forthcoming World Polo Series at the park in June.
Jodie Kidd said to the newspaper: "It is incredible to watch. The children need absolutely no riding experience. They are coached from a standing start to playing polo within an hour."
London's East Festival will play host to a bike polo competition in Spitalfields market on Sunday 7th March, a strand of the sport that road.cc says dates back to the 1890s and is particularly popular in India.
