Summer camp 'beneficial on many levels'

Published on 31-07-2009

Summary:

Children who attend summer camp can experience a range of benefits, it has been claimed.

According to a post on marchmadnessdetroit2009.com, the chance to try new activities outside of home is a good way to fill up kids' long school holidays.

"Going to a summer camp will give your child the chance to develop new interests, expand their horizons, experience new locales and make lifelong friends," the source explained.

In addition, the post said that other benefits of attending summer camp include children becoming more confident, disciplined and responsible, as well as developing independence and new skills.

However, it also claimed that choosing a camp which offers a limited programme of activities can be difficult for parents, which may show the strengths of those which include a wide range of events.

Earlier this month, Ginger Gilmer wrote on thegilmers.blogspot.com that her time at summer camp as a child built memories which have lasted a lifetime.

She also said that activities such as swimming, arts, archery and hiking still remind her of the good time she had at camp.ADNFCR-2577-ID-19290965-ADNFCR
