Summer camp 'best choice for a working mum'
Published on 29-07-2009
Summary:
A mother has revealed that allowing her children to attend summer camp was the best way to fill their school holidays.
Jayne Miller, a writer and editor, told the Times that giving her children the chance to try new activities and adventures over the summer kept them occupied while making it possible for her to keep working.
The mum added that the option is a good choice for kids who are too old for alternatives such as playschemes but not mature enough to be considered properly independent.
She said that summer camp gave her more peace of mind that her children were not spending their school break hanging around parks.
Her son, 14-year-old Alby, also told the newspaper: "It was good fun. We were kept occupied all day and were pretty tired at night."
Last week, Chelsey Cincinnati wrote on The Pugh's blog that her son Geoff loved day camp after his first session, using it as an opportunity to make friends and try new activities.
