Summer camps 'ideal childcare option' for parents
Published on 28-07-2009
Summary:
Many parents struggle with their childcare options during the summer, with many taking a fortnight off together leaving four long weeks of the break.
Recent research from Bassetts Soft & Chewy found 62 per cent of parents think the school holidays are a source of stress.
However, the Times suggests summer camps are a good way to take care of the children and cater to their interests.
"There are sports camps, climbing camps, surfing getaways, arts courses, adventure holidays, film-making courses - it is hard to think of a niche interest that isnt catered for," the newspaper stated.
It added that the length and type of each camp varies, meaning there is something for every need, from day camps to residential and all-day schemes to ones that last for a few hours.
A variety of activities for summer camps are also on offer, with Lisa David, who helps run playschemes, telling the newspaper that some of the most popular are things like yoga and circus skills.
Top tips offered by the Times include involving the child in the choice of the holiday camp, choosing it so it fits the interests of the kids and making sure they are fully informed on the summer camp.
