Q: Which activities are included in the price? [back to top]

We do not charge extra for any of the activities included in our brochure or on this website, unless you wish to book an intensive course in a favourite activity. Our promotional material lists the activities offered at our camps, and activities can vary between camps depending on resources available. All camps offer a minimum of 35 activities in a week, although some are restricted to certain age groups. Very popular activities such as swimming are offered at least twice a week (not available at Welwyn Garden City). Should we need to withdraw any of the activities, for example as a result of unsuitable weather conditions or equipment failure, we will re-instate them as soon as possible.

Q: Are motorsports included in the programme? [back to top]

Yes, although that does not mean your child will always have a go! We will try to ensure each child aged 8 and over has a go at motorsports, but in the event of reduced availability, due to wet weather or other reasons, priority is given to children who have pre-booked an intensive course. If your child would be disappointed if they were not offered motorsports in their programme, we suggest you book the Motor Mania course. The minimum age for petrol-driven vehicles is 8 years old, although some vehicles are designed especially for children aged 10 and over. For the under 8s we provide electric go-karts, which are included in the programme and not offered as extra sessions.

Q: Is there anything in particular I need to know about the intensive courses? [back to top]

Although structured sessions in all of the activities are included as part of the normal programme, you may wish to book one of the following intensive courses for your child.

Motor Mania - each session is shared with three or four other children. We only allow one vehicle on the track at a time. The exact content of the programme may vary from centre to centre, as we allocate vehicles to camps according to the nature and design of the motorsports track. Helmets and protective padding are supplied and must be worn. Children must bring long-sleeved tops and long trousers to camp. This is a great programme for all children aged 8 and over. If you would like to have protection against sessions being cancelled due to wet weather you should take out our Customer Protection Plan. This will provide you with a full refund for sessions missed due to wet weather.

Barracudas Swim School - supervised by a qualified lifeguard and a swimming teacher, with sub-groups of not more than five children. These beginners' sessions last for half an hour each day and are available to all ages. We provide floats, arm bands, tummy belts and buoyancy aids when necessary. Not available at Welwyn Garden City or Croydon - Trinity.

Lab Rats - Available for all age groups. A one hour long ssession each day. All equipment will be provided for experiments.

Although it is not always necessary to pre-book extras, demand does vary from camp to camp, and places on each of the courses are limited. In order for children to benefit from the general activity programme and the variety of activities on offer, only one intensive course can be booked per week.

Q: What if it rains? [back to top]

Unfortunately, we cannot organise the weather! However, we do have a wet weather programme which swings into operation at the first sign of rain. When selecting schools and colleges to be Barracudas centres, we have in the back of our minds the British weather! Because our centres are well appointed schools, and have excellent facilities, we can offer a wide and varied wet weather programme. Some activities will be withdrawn in wet weather for safety reasons.
